Abstract

Background: Although control of pain and burn wounds has improved in recent years, the choice of effective dressing is still a global and challenging problem for health care personnel. The purpose of this study was to evaluate and compare the effect of dressings used in burn wounds. Methods: All studies conducted during the years 2017-2005 using the keywords of burning dressings, synthetic dressings and biological dressings and modern dressings of burns from country and abroad databases including magiran, SID, medlib, CINHAL, Pub med, Elsevier, scopus, and data were analyzed using a meta-analysis method (random effect model). Results: Thirty-eight studies with dressing materials used in burn wounds were found. The most common dressings used by the researchers were traditional dressings (herbal and antibacterial), synthetic, biological and wet. Conclusions: The results of this review study show that despite the effectiveness of modern dressings in improving and healing burn wounds, most patients with second and third grade burns are treated traditionally. Therefore, special attention is paid to the use of new dressings by health care providers. © 2019, Advanced Scientific Research. All rights reserved.
